“Your story isn’t over.”

At Suicide Prevention UK, we’re proud to be part of the international movement known as Project Semicolon — a powerful campaign raising awareness around mental health, suicide prevention, and the importance of continuing the conversation.
This year, we’re encouraging supporters across the UK to take part in a meaningful initiative:
Get a semicolon tattoo and help fund our life-saving work.
What Is Project Semicolon?
Project Semicolon is a global movement started in 2013 to support those struggling with mental illness, suicide, addiction, and self-injury. The semicolon (;) represents a pause — not an end. Just as writers use it to continue a sentence, many use it as a symbol of hope and strength during dark times.
Wearing a semicolon tattoo shows support for others and acts as a reminder that our stories can go on.
Why It Matters to Suicide Prevention UK
At Suicide Prevention UK, we patrol high-risk areas across the country to help individuals who may be experiencing a mental health crisis or suicidal thoughts. Our trained volunteers offer compassionate, face-to-face support when people need it most.
We receive no government funding, and every penny we raise goes directly into delivering this life-saving support.
By getting your semicolon tattoo, you’ll help raise awareness and funds that allow us to continue our work on the frontlines of suicide prevention.
How You Can Get Involved
????️ 1. Get Inked for a Cause
Tattoo studios across the UK are taking part in this campaign, offering semicolon tattoos at reduced prices — many donating a portion of proceeds to Suicide Prevention UK.
Search for participating studios on our Facebook page or ask your local artist if they’d like to join the movement.
???? 2. Donate the Cost of a Tattoo
If you’d prefer not to get a tattoo, you can still take part. Donate the equivalent of a tattoo (£15–£30) to support our mental health outreach. Your donation helps fund:
- Life-saving patrols
- 1-to-1 crisis interventions
- Training for volunteers
- Helpline support
???? 3. Spread the Message
Once you’ve got your tattoo, share it online using hashtags like #ProjectSemicolonUK and #MyStoryIsntOver. Be proud of what it represents — your courage, your support for others, and your belief in a better tomorrow.
Why the Semicolon Tattoo Is So Powerful
- It starts conversations about mental health and suicide awareness
- It breaks down stigma, showing others they are not alone
- It serves as a permanent reminder that you’re still here — and your story continues
