???? Call 0800 587 0800 – Press Option 2 for Bereavement Support
Suicide Prevention UK has today launched a new dedicated support line for anyone bereaved by suicide, following a significant increase in calls from individuals who’ve lost loved ones and didn’t know where to turn.
As of this week, callers to our National Suicide Prevention Helpline can now press Option 2 to be connected directly with a trained team member who understands the unique grief that comes with losing someone to suicide.
Why This New Service Matters
Losing someone to suicide brings a level of grief few can understand. It’s often traumatic, sudden, and full of unanswered questions. Guilt, anger, confusion, and isolation are common — and those grieving often feel unsure of where to turn.
“We’ve had an overwhelming number of people call us, not because they were in crisis themselves — but because they had lost someone to suicide and were drowning in silent grief,” said Suicide Prevention UK. “This service was created for them.”
How It Works
???? 0800 587 0800
- Option 1 – For individuals in suicidal crisis or emotional distress
- Option 2 – For individuals who are bereaved by suicide
When you press Option 2, you’ll speak with someone who understands how complex suicide grief can be. Our volunteers are trained to listen without judgment, offer emotional support, and help guide you toward healing — whether your loss happened days ago or decades ago.
You don’t need to explain why you’re calling. You don’t need to be in crisis. You just need to know: we’re here.
What Makes This Service Unique
- Accessed through a single national helpline number
- No separate registration or long waiting times
- Run by volunteers trained in suicide prevention and bereavement response
- Available for friends, family members, colleagues, and anyone affected by suicide loss
- Born directly from public need — hundreds of callers asked for this
“People were already calling us. Now, we’ve made space for them — because every person grieving a suicide deserves to be heard.”
